Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.3.1.2 - Identify primary sources of information e.g. photographs, audio, video recordings, letters etc.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define primary sources of information in their own words and give at least three examples from their daily lives.
  2. Identify and classify given items (photographs, audio recordings, video recordings, letters, diaries, etc.) as primary sources of information.
  3. Collect or record data from at least one primary source and bring it to class for discussion.
  4. Group recorded items according to their similarities (e.g. all audio items together, all written items together) and explain the basis for their grouping.
  5. State why primary sources are important for getting first-hand information.
