Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.3.2.2 - Describe various tools or techniques of data collection e.g. interview, observation, checklist etc.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Name at least four different tools or techniques used for collecting data (e.g., interview, observation, checklist, questionnaire).
  2. Describe in their own words how each data collection tool works.
  3. Match a data collection tool to an appropriate situation or purpose.
  4. Demonstrate using at least one data collection tool (e.g., interview, observation, or checklist) in a practical classroom activity.
  5. Work in groups to create a simple data collection tool and use it to gather data.

  • strand name - printed p.2 and the table of contents head B4 strand 1 "WORD PROCESSING", which is a copy-paste error. Corrected to "INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTING" on four pieces of evidence: the scope-and-sequence names strand 1 "Introduction to computing"; B5 and B6 both print "STRAND 1: INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTING" over the same sub-strands; B4 own p.9 heads strand 3 "WORD PROCESSING"; and B4 strand 1 sub-strands are Generation of Computers, MS-Windows Interface, Data Sources and Usage, and Technology in the Community, none of which is word processing
