Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.3.2.1 - Identify the steps and issues involved in data collection.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

State the four main steps of data collection in the correct order: identify the reason, set goals, plan the approach, and collect and interpret the data.
Identify at least one reason why data might need to be collected in a given scenario.
Give a simple example of each of the three issues in data collection: unavailability of data, intentional manipulation of data, and random errors.
Sequence a set of jumbled data collection steps correctly.
Work in a group to plan a simple data collection activity, stating the reason, goal, and method they would use.
