Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.3.4.LI.3 - Lire et réagir à un texte sur les genres de la littérature (Compréhension des écrits).

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Read a short French text and identify which literary genre (narratif, poétique, théâtral, épistolaire, argumentatif) it belongs to, justifying their answer with evidence from the text.
Respond to comprehension questions in French on a text about literary genres, covering who, what, where and why.
Recognise key vocabulary related to literary genres (roman, poésie, théâtre, lettre, personnage, intrigue) when reading a text.
Sort short extracts into the correct literary genre category in small groups, explaining their reasoning in simple French sentences.
React personally to a short literary text by expressing, in one or two sentences, whether they liked it and why, using phrases such as “J’aime ce texte parce que…” or “Je préfère…”.
