Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.3.4.1.1 - Demonstrate the ability to make inferences of text features such as word order, conjugation of verbs and sentence structure.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define inference and identify at least three text features (titles, headings, word order, verb conjugation, sentence structure) that help a reader draw conclusions beyond the literal words.
- Make inferences about the content and purpose of an Arabic text based on its title, headings and subheadings before reading the full passage.
- Infer the time frame (past, present, future) of a sentence by examining the conjugation of its verbs.
- Infer meaning from Arabic sentence structure, including the difference between nominal and verbal sentences.
- Explain how bullet points, a glossary, an index and guide words help readers locate and predict information, using an example from a school textbook or storybook.
