Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.3.4.1.1

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Explain the purpose of a text by identifying whether it informs, raises awareness, or challenges an idea.
Pull key information from different segments of a text and connect them to determine the author’s overall purpose.
State the reason a text was written and give evidence from at least two different parts of the text to support their answer.
Use Arabic phrases such as لِلتَّعْرِيفِ (to inform), لِلتَّوْعِيَةِ (to raise awareness), and لِتَحَدِّي فِكْرَةٍ (to challenge an idea) when discussing a text.
Work with a partner to compare judgments about a text’s purpose and justify their conclusions with reference to specific segments.
