Creativity, Innovation and the Design Process

Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.1.3.1.1
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define creativity and innovation in their own words and state at least two clear differences between the two concepts.
- Identify at least three design products in their local community and classify each as an example of creativity, innovation, or both, with justification.
- Evaluate a given design product (for example, an improved cookstove or energy-saving bulb) by listing the problem it solves and explaining how creativity and innovation contributed to its design.
- Discuss in small groups the design challenges of at least two local artefacts (for example, the cutlass, kitchen stool, or farming basket) and suggest one innovative improvement for each.
- Present their findings to the class using simple oral or written explanations, demonstrating critical thinking about how design solutions address problems in Ghanaian society.
