Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.2.2.2.5 - Plan and display own and others’ musical works within the African continent that promote and sensitise the public on emerging topical issues

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Plan a mini concert programme that includes their own composition from Week 11 and at least one musical work by another African artist, sequencing the pieces for effect.
  2. Write a short presentation script that explains the style of each musical work and how it sensitises the public on an emerging topical issue.
  3. Rehearse and perform their mini concert for the class, following proper stage etiquette and time management.
  4. Evaluate their own and peers’ performances using a simple criteria checklist (clarity of message, style identification, stage presence, teamwork).
  5. Make a simple video recording of the performance and reflect on one strength and one area for improvement from the recording.
