Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.2.2.3.9 - Organise an appreciation and appraisal of own and others’ dance and drama artworks that reflect a range of different times, cultures and topical issues

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State at least three criteria for appreciating and appraising a dance drama performance, covering both strengths and weaknesses.
  2. Organise a formal appreciation session by inviting an audience and preparing an appraisal sheet or checklist for recording observations.
  3. Watch a dance drama performance (live or recorded) by peers, then identify and record at least two strengths and two weaknesses of the production and performance.
  4. Discuss recorded observations with performers and other audience members, using respectful and constructive language to suggest modifications for future performances.
  5. Demonstrate respect for diverse cultures, traditions and topical issues represented in the dance dramas during the appreciation and appraisal process.
