Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.2.2.2.6 - Organise an appreciation and appraisal of own original musical works and those of others on the African continent that promote and sensitise the public on emerging topical issues
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define aesthetic appreciation and appraisal in the context of musical works, distinguishing between describing what is heard and judging its quality and effect.
- Identify at least three emerging topical issues addressed in their own recorded musical works and in at least two musical works by other African artists.
- Organise and conduct a structured listening session that collects feedback from an audience using a prepared appraisal guide or questionnaire.
- Write a short aesthetic appreciation report that describes the musical elements, message, and impact of a chosen work, and suggests one refinement based on audience feedback.
- Present their findings and refinements to the class using clear spoken language and appropriate musical vocabulary.

Reflect and refine own work using the feedback from the appraisal and aesthetic appreciation report. 3. Disseminate the findings of your research to the class by giving a presentation.
