Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.2.2.6 - Organise an appreciation and appraisal of own and others’ musical works that reflect a range of different times and cultures.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Organise a small audience (classmates, staff, or parents) to listen to a recorded musical work from a previous lesson and collect their verbal and written feedback.
  2. Write a simple aesthetic appreciation report that describes, analyses, interprets, and judges the musical work using basic music vocabulary.
  3. Reflect on feedback received and identify at least two specific refinements to improve their own musical work.
  4. Present the findings of the enquiry and the appreciation report to the class using clear, ordered speech.
  5. Demonstrate respectful and collaborative behaviour when giving and receiving appraisal of musical works from different times and cultures.

1. Conduct an enquiry by playing the recorded video clip from B8. 2.2.2.4 Exemplar 1 to a group of people (including learners, staff and parents) to collect data and write an aesthetic appreciation report.
2. Reflect and refine own work using the feedback from the appraisal and aesthetic appreciation report.
3. Disseminate the findings of your research to the class by giving a presentation.
