Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.2.2.1.1 - Design and produce own visual artworks that reflect the history and culture of the people of the local community
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Gather and record at least three pieces of visual information about the history and culture of their local community through drawings or photographs of local buildings, artefacts, textiles, or other cultural objects.
- Sketch two or more idea development drawings that show different design possibilities for an artwork based on the recorded cultural information.
- Produce one completed 2D artwork (such as a painting, repeat pattern, or poster design) that clearly reflects an aspect of the local community’s history or culture.
- Explain in their own words how the elements and principles of art were used in their finished artwork to reflect the chosen cultural theme.
- Assess at least one work of art by a classmate using simple evaluation criteria (matching the cultural theme, use of materials, and overall visual appeal).

1. Gather and record relevant information for developing ideas to design own visual artworks that reflect the history and culture of the people of the local community. Example: making drawings and/or taking photographs of local buildings, people, schools, landscapes, sculpture pieces, graphic arts, textiles, basketry, jewellery, leatherworks, etc., 2. Apply recorded ideas and design thinking process to create 2D and 3D artworks to address social, cultural and historical problems in the community such as artworks of painting, landscape, poster design, repeat pattern or sculpture.
