Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.2.2.2.6 - Organise an appreciation and appraisal of own and others’ musical works that reflect the history and culture of the people in the community
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- List the key elements to look for when appraising a musical work (melody, rhythm, lyrics, cultural references, performance quality).
- Conduct a simple enquiry by playing a recorded musical work to at least three different people and collecting their responses using a short questionnaire or interview guide.
- Write a brief aesthetic appreciation report that describes what they heard, how it made them feel, and what cultural or historical features the music reflects.
- Present their findings and feedback to the class clearly, speaking to a group and responding to questions.
- Reflect on the feedback they receive and state at least one specific way they could refine or improve their own musical work from Term 2, Week 11.

Conduct an enquiry by playing the recorded video clip from B7. 2.2.2.4 Exemplar 1 to a group of people (including learners, staff and parents) to collect data and write an aesthetic appreciation report. 2. Reflect and refine own work using the feedback from the appraisal and aesthetic appreciation report. 3. Disseminate the findings of your research to the class by giving a presentation.
