Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.1.6.1.1 - Describe/talk about objects/personalities/events in the country and the world

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Describe at least three objects found in the classroom or at home using appropriate descriptive vocabulary (size, colour, shape, material, use).
  2. Talk about at least two national or international personalities, stating who they are and why they are important.
  3. Describe at least two cultural events or festivals celebrated in Ghana and one international event, giving key details about each.
  4. Use appropriate and respectful vocabulary when describing people and events during oral discussion.
  5. Ask and answer at least two clarifying questions about a peer’s description of an object, personality, or event.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

- Revise previous discussions on the following: i. Objects - objects found in class, at home etc. ii. Dates - dates of birth. iii. Time - various times at school in the day e.g. break time.
iv. Names of regions - Central, Ashanti, Northern, etc.
- Lead a discussion on: i. Personalities - e.g. role models, MPs, head of institution
ii. Event - festivals, games, special occasions e.g. Christmas
- Guide learners to use appropriate vocabulary in the discussion.
- Encourage learners to ask and answer questions for clarification of other learners' opinions. The document prints a further bullet under this indicator with no text beside it; it is dropped here.
