Learning Objectives
Indicator: B4.1.6.3.1 - Engage in collaborative conversation on topics such as myself, family, personalities etc. with peers
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Give a clear oral description of themselves, including their name, physical features, character, likes and dislikes, using at least five descriptive words.
- Describe a family member of their choice, mentioning name, age, physical appearance and one identifying detail.
- Name the Regional Minister for the region in which their school is located and state one role of that minister.
- Mention at least two national ministers (for example, Minister for Education, Minister for Health or Minister for Agriculture) and say what each one does.
- Talk about a favourite personality in sports or music, describing that person’s characteristics and saying what they like about the person.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
- Model describing yourself: e.g. name, physical features, character, likes and dislikes etc. - Guide learners with appropriate questions to give oral descriptions of themselves. - Select and describe a family member using relevant vocabulary e.g. - sister/brother/parent - name, age - how he/she looks like - shape of face, facial marks if any, shape of nose, eyes, etc. - height, colour and any minute detail that can be used to identify the person easily. - Guide learners with questions and other activities, to mention the name of the Regional Minister for the region in which their school is located. - Have learners mention names of personalities in politics such as the Ministers for Education, Health, Agriculture, etc. - Through questions and answers have learners talk about the roles and duties of these ministers. - Individually, ask learners to talk about their favourite personalities in sports, music, and mention their characteristics, and what they like about the personalities mentioned. Note: Ensure that learners use descriptive words.
