Indicator: B2.1.6.1.1 - Use appropriate greetings for special occasions
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Name at least three special occasions in Ghana that call for special greetings, such as birthdays, weddings, festivals and naming ceremonies.
- Match the correct greeting to each special occasion and explain why that greeting is appropriate.
- Demonstrate greeting someone on a special occasion using the correct words, tone and courteous manner.
- Respond appropriately when they are greeted on a special occasion.
- Identify the differences between daily greetings (good morning, good afternoon, good evening) and greetings for special occasions.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
- Revise daily greetings by having learners identify greeting times in the day: e.g. Morning-Good morning, Afternoon-Good afternoon, Evening-Good evening. - Discuss special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and festivals. - Discuss the correct greetings and responses on these occasions. - Let learners take turns to demonstrate greetings for special occasions and also practise the appropriate responses.
