Learning Objectives
Indicator: B2.1.6.1.3 - Talk about things and places in their homes
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Name at least five different places or rooms found in a home, such as the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room and compound.
- Identify at least three things found in each of these places and state what they are used for.
- Talk about what happens at each place in the home, using simple sentences like “We cook in the kitchen” or “We sleep in the bedroom.”
- Describe one place in their own home to a partner using two or more correct sentences.
- Show respect and interest when listening to others talk about their homes, building on the turn-taking habits introduced in earlier lessons.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
- Ask learners to name things and places in their homes and say what happens at those places. - Show pictures of important places in their community, such as the chief's palace, the market, the police station, etc. and have learners think-pair-share ideas or views with the person sitting next to them. - Put learners into groups to talk about their pictures. - Rotate the pictures until each group has had its turn to talk about all the pictures.
