Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.3.3.6 - Select and analyse creative artworks of dance and drama artistes, and identify the history, culture, environment and topical issues that are reflected in them for documentation

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Select at least one dance piece and one play by Ghanaian artistes that reflect history, culture, environment or topical issues, and justify their selection.
  2. Analyse the selected works by identifying at least three specific features (movements, costumes, dialogue, props, music) that reflect the history, culture, environment or topical issues.
  3. Compare and contrast the dance piece and the play using a simple two-column chart showing similarities and differences in content, style and message.
  4. Document their analysis in a structured format (a documentation sheet) that records the title, artiste, cultural/historical references, environmental or topical issues, and personal reflections.
  5. Generate at least one new idea for a dance or drama piece based on an issue identified from their community, drawing on the knowledge gained from the analysis.
