Indicator: B7.2.3.2.3 - Identify indigenous and art musicians in the community whose works reflect the history, culture, environment and topical issues
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Name at least three indigenous or popular musicians in Ghana whose works connect to history, culture, environment, or topical issues.
- Explain how the themes in a selected musician’s songs reflect the society in which they live.
- Match songs by Ghanaian musicians to the specific topical issues, cultural practices, or historical events they address.
- Listen to or read the lyrics of a community song and identify the issue it promotes or sensitises the public about.
- Share their own view of a musician’s contribution to society in a short oral presentation.

1. Select one indigenous or popular musician and assess their contribution to the society. Examples: Agya Koo Nimo, Afia Abaasa, Kakraba Lobi, Kojo Nuatro, E. T. Mensah, Kojo Antwi, Amakye Dede, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley 2. Transcribe any song in the community that promotes and sensitises the public on emerging topical issue. Examples: Sanitation song by Ubongo kids; Sanitation by Osei Boateng; Illegal Fishing by Kofi Kinaata; Driver Banza by George Jarrah.
