Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.3.LI.2 - Explore how data travels on the Internet, how the IP addressing system functions and discuss surfing the Web, creating and use of e-mail and mailing lists.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Describe, in sequence, how data is broken into packets and travels from one device to another across the Internet.
Explain the function of an IP address and distinguish between IPv4 and IPv6 formats.
Demonstrate the steps for browsing the Web effectively, including using a URL and a search engine.
Create a personal e-mail account and compose, send, and reply to a message.
Discuss the purpose of mailing lists and demonstrate how to subscribe and participate in one.
