Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.3.8.1.1 - Identify and use simple conjunctions - so that, when, while, if etc.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the conjunctions “so that, when, while, if” and other simple subordinating conjunctions in given sentences and short passages.
- Explain the purpose of each conjunction, stating whether it shows purpose, time, or condition.
- Join two simple sentences correctly using the appropriate conjunction.
- Complete sentences by filling in blanks with suitable conjunctions.
- Construct four original sentences of their own, each using a different conjunction correctly, in speech and in writing.

- show purpose - express time - condition, etc. - Revise the coordinating conjunctions - and, or, nor, but and subordinating conjunctions by having learners use them sentences. - Provide sentences for learners to join them with coordinating and subordinating conjunctions. - Provide passages and let learners identify conjunctions. - Let them do other activities like filling blanks with suitable conjunctions and using conjunction in their own sentences. - Introduce the conjunctions "so that, when, while, if etc" in context. e.g. Take a hot bath so that you can sleep well. I drank the soup while my mother was in the kitchen. - Provide opportunities for learners to use the conjunctions learnt.
