Learning Objectives
Indicator: B4.3.8.1.1 - Identify and use simple conjunctions - and, but, or, nor - to link similar ideas, contrasting ideas, show choices/express alternatives.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the conjunctions “and,” “but,” “or,” and “nor” in given sentences and state what each conjunction does (links similar ideas, contrasts ideas, or shows choices).
- Join two simple sentences using the correct conjunction based on the relationship between the ideas.
- Complete sentences with the appropriate conjunction to show whether ideas are similar, contrasting, or alternative.
- Create their own compound sentences using “and,” “but,” “or,” and “nor” correctly in speech and in writing.
- Use the Combination Drill to combine sentence parts with conjunctions in a group speaking activity.
