Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.4.2.LI.4 - Examine the advantages and disadvantages of taxation.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- State at least four advantages of taxation to the Ghanaian economy and society.
- State at least four disadvantages (or disincentives) of taxation on individuals and businesses in Ghana.
- Evaluate a given scenario involving tax policy and determine whether the effects described are advantages or disadvantages, justifying their reasoning.
- Use evidence from their own environment (e.g., road construction, school feeding, market tolls) to support their views on the benefits and burdens of taxation.
- Debate, respectfully and with tolerance, whether a particular tax measure in Ghana does more good or more harm.
