Indicator: B8.3.1.1.2 Describe the Internet, world wide web (www) and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define the Internet and describe its purpose as a global network of connected computers.
  2. Explain the function of an IP address and state the difference between IPv4 and IPv6 formats using examples.
  3. Describe the role of the Domain Name System (DNS) and compare it to a phonebook.
  4. Distinguish between the Internet and the World Wide Web (www) using a clear analogy or example.
  5. Identify the four classes of Internet addresses (A, B, C, D, E) and give a practical example of each.
