Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.2.2.LI.1 - Understand and evaluate the risks associated with the use of ICT, including Internet and network attacks (e.g., cyberbullying, malware, botnets, denial-of-service attacks, spoofing, hardware theft, and firewalls).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define each of the listed Internet and network attacks: cyberbullying, malware, botnets, denial-of-service attacks, spoofing, hardware theft, and firewalls.
- Explain how each type of attack is carried out and the harm it can cause to individuals, organisations, and the nation.
- Identify warning signs that a device or network may be under attack.
- Evaluate the severity of different attacks in real-life scenarios and rank them by potential impact.
- Discuss the ethical dimensions of cyberattacks, including why cyberbullying is unacceptable and why protecting others’ information is a national value.
