Indicator: B9.2.1.2.5 - Read silently and answer more complex comprehension questions on texts/passages

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Skim a passage quickly to locate specific details such as names, dates, places, and figures.
  2. Scan a passage to identify the main ideas and the overall purpose of the text.
  3. Read a passage silently for details and answer complex comprehension questions that require inference, interpretation, and evaluation.
  4. Relate the events and ideas in a passage to their own personal experiences and to situations in their community.
  5. Justify their answers to comprehension questions by referring to specific evidence from the text.
