Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.2.1.1.3 - Evaluate ways that the media helps to disseminate information via different text types

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three different media text types (for example, news articles, radio broadcasts, social media posts, posters) and describe how each disseminates information to its audience.
  2. Critique a given media message by identifying its purpose, target audience, and at least one strength and one weakness.
  3. Suggest at least two concrete improvements to a media message to make it clearer, more accurate, or more effective.
  4. Create a short original media text (such as a news report, announcement, or poster) that conveys a piece of information accurately and appropriately for a chosen audience.
  5. Evaluate which media channel would be most effective for spreading a particular message in a given situation, with reasons.
