Indicator: B9.2.1.2.4 - Compare the language, style, structure and purpose, as well as the ideas/information from different types of texts
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify narrative, expository, and procedural texts by their key features (language, style, structure, and purpose).
- Compare and contrast two related texts on the same topic, noting differences in their language, style, structure, purpose, and the ideas or information they present.
- Explain, with reasons, which text type (narrative, expository, or procedural) is best suited to a particular purpose or audience.
- Record their comparisons in organised notes (e.g., a Venn diagram or a table) and present their findings to the class.
- Use appropriate comparative language (e.g., “while,” “whereas,” “in contrast,” “both texts,” “on the other hand”) when discussing the similarities and differences between texts.
