Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.2.1.2.2 - Make predictions, identify patterns and relationships of ideas to analyse texts

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Make logical predictions about a text before and during reading based on titles, headings, pictures and prior knowledge.
  2. Identify patterns in the organisation of a text, such as cause and effect, problem and solution, sequence and comparison.
  3. Explain relationships between ideas within a text, showing how one idea leads to, supports or contrasts with another.
  4. Use predictions and identified patterns to summarise the main ideas of a set text.
  5. Present and justify their predictions and analysis to peers, and give constructive feedback on others’ analyses.
