- Define derivation and identify the root word and affixes (prefixes and suffixes) in given words.
- Derive new words from given root words by adding appropriate prefixes and suffixes.
- Use derived words correctly in sentences about historical, cultural, and political topics.
- Explain how the meaning of a root word changes when prefixes or suffixes are added.
- Match derived words to the appropriate context (historical, cultural, or political) in short passages.
