Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.1.2.8 - Integrate appropriate grade level vocabulary in different contexts

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and select grade-level vocabulary words from a given non-fiction passage and state their meanings using context clues.
  2. Use at least five newly learned vocabulary words in meaningful sentences that show understanding of each word’s meaning.
  3. Apply a given set of vocabulary words in two different contexts (for example, a school setting and a market setting) to demonstrate flexibility in usage.
  4. Create a short paragraph of four to six sentences that integrates at least three of the vocabulary words correctly.
  5. Explain how the same vocabulary word can shift slightly in meaning when placed in different contexts, using at least one example.
