Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.1.2.3 - Read silently and answer more complex comprehension questions on texts /passages

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Read a passage silently and identify the main idea and supporting details without reading aloud.
  2. Answer inference questions that require reading between the lines, using clues from the text.
  3. Distinguish between literal questions (answers directly in the text) and interpretive questions (answers that require thinking and reasoning).
  4. Connect ideas in a passage to their own prior knowledge and experience when answering questions.
  5. Use evidence from the passage to justify and support their answers to comprehension questions.
