Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.2.7.2.3 - Demonstrate awareness of the structure of texts (e.g. introduction, body, conclusion)

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and name the three main parts of a text: introduction, body and conclusion.
  2. Explain the purpose of each part of a text (what the introduction does, what the body carries, what the conclusion does).
  3. Sort sentences or short paragraphs into introduction, body and conclusion when given a mixed-up text.
  4. Summarise each part of a short passage in one sentence.
  5. Produce a full summary of a short passage by joining the part summaries together.
