Learning Objectives

Indicator: B3.2.7.1.1 - Use self-correction strategies to make meaning when reading texts

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify when a word they have read aloud does not make sense in a sentence and stop to fix it.
  2. Apply at least two self-correction strategies (rereading, sounding out, reading on, and then coming back) to decode and understand unfamiliar or misread words.
  3. Reread a sentence or phrase correctly after making a mistake, showing awareness of the correct meaning.
  4. Answer simple questions about a short text after successfully self-correcting during group and pair reading.
  5. Demonstrate confidence in reading aloud in pairs and groups by using self-correction without always waiting for the teacher’s help.
