Indicator: B3.2.7.1.3 - Retell level-appropriate text in own, explain and illustrate

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Retell a level-appropriate story in their own words in the correct sequence of events.
  • Use a story map to identify and organise the main parts of a story (characters, setting, problem, events, solution).
  • Explain their understanding of a story by answering who, what, where, when and why questions.
  • Illustrate a key event from a story and use the picture to support their retelling.
  • Collaborate with peers in pairs or small groups to practise retelling a story sequentially.

- Have learners narrate or retell the story passage using the herring bone or story map strategy. The narration should be sequential to make the story understood.
