Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.4.2.1.2 - Demonstrate the ability to recognise formal and informal texts in correspondence.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least four types of informal (personal) letters in Arabic, such as دعوة (invitation), شكر (thanks), تهنئة (congratulations), and اعتذار (apology), and state one purpose of each.
- Distinguish between formal and informal correspondence by examining key features such as greetings, closings, and tone, using at least three criteria.
- Sort given phrases and sentence openers into “formal” and “informal” categories with at least 80% accuracy.
- Write a short informal letter to a teacher explaining a reason for missing a class, using appropriate friendly but respectful language.
- Write a short text message to a friend inviting them to lunch, using informal Arabic expressions naturally.
