Indicator: B9.1.1.1.1 - Discuss the trends in the next generation of computers

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. List at least five features expected to be seen in the next generation of computers, such as quantum processing, artificial intelligence, and faster processing speeds.
  2. Describe what a quantum computer is and explain how Google’s Sycamore processor works in simple terms.
  3. Compare the processing power of Google’s Sycamore quantum computer with that of traditional supercomputers, using concrete numbers and examples.
  4. Discuss in small groups the likely impact of next-generation computers on everyday life in Ghana, including education, health, and business.
  5. Present and defend a point of view on whether quantum computers will replace ordinary computers in the near future, using evidence from the lesson.
