Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.1.1.1.4 - Describe storage devices: Flash Memory Storage Systems, Embedded Flash Memory Cards and Readers, USB Flash Drives, Solid State Drives and Hybrid hard drives
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and name at least five types of storage devices, including USB flash drives, memory cards, solid state drives (SSDs) and hybrid hard drives.
- Describe the key features and characteristics of flash memory storage systems, embedded flash memory, flash memory cards and readers.
- Explain how a memory card reader works when transferring photos or files from a memory card to a computer.
- Compare and contrast solid state drives (SSDs) with hybrid hard drives, stating at least one advantage and one disadvantage of each.
- Recommend an appropriate storage device for a given situation, such as backing up school work or storing family photos.
