Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.3.LI.2 - Explain ways by which the Performing Arts are connected and related to the other art forms in the African society.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least four other art forms in the African society (visual arts, crafts, oral literature, architecture, textiles, and others) and state how each connects to music, dance, or drama.
  2. Explain, using specific examples from Ghanaian culture, how the Performing Arts depend on and interact with other art forms during festivals, funerals, and celebrations.
  3. Create a mind map that visually links at least five Performing Arts practices to their corresponding art forms in the African society.
  4. Present a short oral explanation of their mind map, using appropriate Performing Arts terminology and clear speech structure, to a small group or the whole class.
  5. Discuss how connections between the arts reflect emerging African topical issues and everyday life experiences, showing respect for diverse views during discussions.
