Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.3.2.LI.1 - Identify and explain colour schemes and the mood they express.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define colour theory and colour scheme, and explain the difference between the two concepts.
  2. Identify at least five major colour schemes (monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split-complementary, triadic, and tetradic) from visual examples.
  3. Explain the mood or emotion that each colour scheme typically expresses (e.g., calm, energy, tension, harmony).
  4. Match colour schemes to real-life products, environments, or artworks and justify their choices based on the mood conveyed.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to create a colour scheme chart that shows colours and the emotions they express.
