Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.1.LI.2 - State the application of bamboo in manufacturing.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State at least five distinct applications of bamboo across different manufacturing industries, citing specific examples from Ghana.
  2. Differentiate between local (traditional) applications and commercial (industrial) applications of bamboo, giving at least two examples of each.
  3. Explain how bamboo’s physical properties (strength, flexibility, lightweight nature) make it suitable for specific manufacturing purposes.
  4. Discuss the economic significance of bamboo applications in Ghana, particularly its contribution to employment and sustainable manufacturing.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to identify a bamboo product and present its manufacturing application to the class, demonstrating respectful communication and open-mindedness.
