Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.3.1.1.4 - Demonstrate the ability to pronounce the result of combining long vowels with each consonant.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the three long vowels in Arabic (alif ا, waw و, ya ي) and state the sound each produces when attached to a consonant.
- Pronounce consonant + long vowel combinations correctly, distinguishing ا (aa), و (uu) and ي (ii) endings.
- Read aloud at least 10 words containing long vowels from the exemplar list with accurate pronunciation and proper vowel length.
- Sort given words into three groups based on which long vowel they contain (alif, waw or ya).
- Explain, in simple terms, the difference between a short vowel (fat-ha, damma, kasra) and a long vowel, using examples they have read.
