Learning Objectives

Indicator: K2.6.9.1.1 - Identify and describe the elements the different weather conditions.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Name and identify the three basic weather elements: the sun (bright weather), rain (rainy weather), and wind (windy weather).
  2. Describe what the sky looks like during bright, rainy, and cloudy weather conditions using simple words like “bright”, “dull”, “grey”, and “blue”.
  3. Match everyday objects and actions (umbrella, sunglasses, fan, raincoat) to the weather condition they belong to.
  4. Recite the rhyme “weather the weather…” with correct rhythm and use it to explain that weather can change.
  5. Respond to simple questions about what makes the weather dull or bright during community circle time.

* Follow basic procedures of the community circle time (as in K2.1.1.1.1) and introduce the theme for the week.
* Display a Conversational Poster #8 and some concrete materials related to the theme, and engage learners in active discussion on the following leading questions: what makes the weather dull or bright? what do we like to do when the weather is bright and sunny or rainy and dull?
