Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
Indicator: K2.6.9.1.5 - Recognize and identify most letter names and their sounds in different names of people from other cultures.
- Recognize and say the first letter name and sound in their own names (e.g., F for Fati, “fuh” sound).
- Identify the first letter name and sound in names of classmates from different cultures in Ghana (e.g., Ama, Kofi, Adwoa, Esi, Yao, Abena).
- Match a spoken name to its written form when shown a name card.
- Sort name cards into groups based on the beginning letter sound (e.g., names starting with A, names starting with K).
- Say the names and sounds of at least 10 different letters found in the names of people from various cultures.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Write names of learners on a card. E.g. Fati, Fafa etc. Put all the pupils' name cards on the floor. Call out a set of names at a time and let two or three friends come out at a time to look for their names. Watch to make sure pupils pick up the correct names .
