Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.3.1.LI.3 - Draw floor plan of simple buildings using appropriate drawing instruments or CAD
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Select and set up the appropriate drawing instruments (set-squares, scale rule, compasses, dividers, protractor) for producing a neat floor plan.
- Convert freehand sketch dimensions into accurate scaled measurements using a chosen scale (e.g., 1:50 or 1:100).
- Draw the external and internal walls of a simple single-room building with a door and window, correctly positioned and dimensioned.
- Apply standard architectural symbols for doors, windows, and wall thickness in the floor plan.
- Use CAD tools or manual instruments to produce a finished floor plan that meets basic building code conventions for line weights and dimensioning.
