Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.3.1.LI.1 - Explain building elevations in relation to building plans.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define a building elevation and distinguish it from a building plan using correct technical vocabulary.
- Identify the key components visible in a building elevation (doors, windows, roof, walls, foundations, steps) and explain how each is represented on a drawing.
- Explain the relationship between a floor plan and the elevations of the same building, using directional terms such as front, rear, left and right side.
- Match standard symbols and line conventions used in elevation drawings to the building features they represent.
- Discuss the importance of building elevations for builders, plumbers, electricians and planning authorities in Ghana.
