Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.1.LI.5 - Establish the symbiotic relationship between the responsibility of the state towards citizens and vice versa in national development.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define the term “symbiotic relationship” and explain how it applies to the connection between the state and its citizens.
  2. List at least four responsibilities the state (government) owes to citizens and four responsibilities citizens owe to the state.
  3. Explain, with examples, how the fulfilment of responsibilities by both parties contributes to national development.
  4. Analyse a scenario and identify which party (state or citizen) has failed in their responsibility and propose remedies.
  5. Demonstrate through role-play the reciprocal duties of citizens and the state, showing the values of patriotism, responsibility, obedience and respect.
