Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.1.1.LI.6 - Discuss how the rights of a citizen can be restricted.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least four circumstances under which the rights of a citizen in Ghana can be restricted, citing relevant provisions of the 1992 Constitution.
- Explain the difference between lawful restriction and arbitrary denial of rights, using examples from Ghanaian life.
- Discuss the balance between individual rights and the collective interest of society, particularly in times of emergency.
- Evaluate a scenario where minority rights may need accommodation, and propose how the state can protect those rights while maintaining order.
- Demonstrate teamwork, respect for divergent views, and gender inclusion during group discussions and role-play.
