SHS2 Aviation And Aerospace Engineering · Semester 2, Week 6
Aviation Organisations
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.3.2.LI.2 - Identify global aviation agencies.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Name at least four global aviation agencies that influence aviation worldwide.
- State the full meaning of the acronyms ICAO, IATA, FAA, and EASA.
- Match each global aviation agency to the region or scope it serves.
- Classify agencies as either global (worldwide) or regional (serving specific countries or continents).
- Recall the headquarters location of each major global aviation agency.
This lesson builds on Week 5, where learners identified the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) as Ghana’s major aviation agency. The focus here is on the global agencies that operate beyond Ghana’s borders. A deeper study of the specific functions of these agencies is scheduled for Week 10, so this lesson keeps explanations at a recognition and recall level.
