Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.5.1.1.1 - Recognise parents as sources of discipline and character formation.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three ways parents discipline their children at home, such as scolding, reprimanding, and depriving gifts.
  2. Explain how parents act as role models and shape the character of their children through prayer, worship, and daily behaviour.
  3. Describe at least two benefits they receive from their parents when they obey them.
  4. Demonstrate, through role-play or group discussion, how parents correct and guide their children at home.
  5. Show respect and appreciation for their parents’ efforts in forming their character.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

- Through questions and answers, let learners mention how they are disciplined by their parents and other elders at home:
  - scolding,
  - reprimanding,
  - deprivation of gifts and other interests,
  - prayer and worship at home,
  - parents act as role models to the children/learners, etc.
- Guide learners to talk about the benefits they get from their parents because of their obedience to them.
- In groups, let learners demonstrate how their parents discipline them at home.
